Activities
Women In Action partners
with welfare-to-work programs to enhance professional skills taught in the
classroom with personal growth activities. Together, we coordinate an activity
schedule that includes hiking, ropes courses and kayaking.
For example, a teamwork day is scheduled at the beginning of the training cycle. This outdoor walk and activities day gives new students and staff an opportunity to get to know each other and learn about working together as a team.
The second activity, a ropes course or kayaking, incorporates more challenge and focuses on overcoming self-defeating beliefs. The group rallies to support each other, and to challenge themselves to reach new goals.
Alumnae activities include a newsletter, alumnae trips and family days. We encourage participants to maintain contact with WIA and to share their success stories with us. A goal of the Alumnae Program is to support women as role models within their own families and communities.
