KAREN NEMSICK

Karen Nemsick, M.S.W.
As founder and director of Women In Action, Karen combines both personal and professional experiences to create a program that she is passionate about and believes in fully. Karen has over 12 years of experience working with women on welfare as a social worker and advocate. After achieving her Masters Degree in Social Work, Karen started up and directed new programs at Raphael House and the Edgewood Center for Children and Families, and counseled victims of domestic violence at the District Attorney's Offices in Sacramento and San Mateo Counties.
Karen says "Personally, rock climbing has changed my life. When I started climbing, I had to challenge myself to work past fear in order to meet my goals. I've learned to apply the same approach to my professional life by challenging myself to start and run Women In Action. I did this because I believe in the theory and its impact, and I'm dedicated to making it work."
